Fifth Annual Damonwoods Scholarship |
|
Attention high school seniors!! The Lowell Damon Woods Board of Directors is proud to offer a $450 scholarship to help defray upcoming college expenses. This money comes from the generous donations given by your neighbors. Every graduating senior, of the 2011-2012 school year, is encouraged to apply because our scholarship isn’t entirely based on your GPA. It’s based on community service, recommendation letters, etc. All students are encouraged to apply. Applying is easy. Email Jim Gehrke to receive the forms or you can call Jim at 414.517.9673. Jim will email you the application. Completed applications must be received by Jim no later than April 22, 2012. Neighbors... it’s not too late to still donate for this very worthy cause. You can donate by going to our neighborhood website (look for the Donations button under Online Payments or send a check to our treasurer). |

February 2012
Hello Neighbors
I hope everyone’s holidays were wonderful and full of gatherings and time spent with friends and families. More than 20 of our Damon Woods neighbors kicked off the holiday season at the Annual Cookie Exchange on December 3rd. Thanks to Ann Scallon for hosting this event in her home. This was a record number of bakers…so many that we had to divide into two groups to keep the baking at a manageable level. Not a bad problem to have. Also, special thanks to our resident Santa, Steve Mannebach, who graciously posed for pictures with the children in attendance and listened diligently to many wish lists. A new year brings fresh starts, new ideas and setting goals. Your neighborhood association is no exception to this. One of our main goals this year is to bring in new activities that are attractive to more members of the association and get more of our current members involved. The Board has many ideas in the works, and we will keep you posted on developments in the months to come. |

Welcome to Lowell Damon Woods |
Lowell Damon Woods Neighborhood Association Inc. is a non-profit organization of volunteers from Lowell Damon Woods, a neighborhood of nearly 500 households in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Our neighborhood is located south and west of Wauwatosa's City Hall and Public Library. We named our neighborhood for Lowell Damon, a pioneer settler of Wauwatosa whose home at 2107 Wauwatosa Avenue is the oldest house in the city. Part of that house is a museum owned by the Milwaukee County Historical Society. Much of the land in our neighborhood belonged to the Damon family. Our web site contains information about the Association, the Lowell Damon Woods neighborhood, events and volunteer opportunities, an online version of our newsletter, and links to other community web sites. Our aim is to bring neighbors together and give the Lowell Damon Woods neighborhood a better sense of identity. |
