15th Anniversary, Annual Picnic and a Ribbon Cutting
Howdy Neighbors,
There are big happenings coming in September.  Our annual picnic, 15th Anniversary celebration and a special dedication/ribbon cutting will all take place on September 19 at the Lowell Damon House.

Let’s take it from the beginning.  There are some pretty cool things planned for our annual picnic.  You’ll see an entry form in this newsletter with a schedule for the day’s events.  The fun starts at 4pm and dinner begins around 4:30 depending how long I talk about state of the neighborhood past, present and future.  At approximately 5:45 we will have a ribbon cutting to celebrate new life at the Damon House.

The house was just painted by Erik Islo from  Boy Scout Troop 21. Erik is going for his Eagle Scout badge and he coordinated the complete project.  Thank you Erik, the old house needed a fresh look.  New windows and repaired windows are scheduled to be done before our picnic so they will look pretty good going forward. Lastly we will dedicate our Memorial Garden with a ribbon cutting.  In fact the garden is done now so if you want to take a sneak peak at it, go right ahead.  If you would like a brick with your name or a memory you would like to honor, it’s not late yet.  You have until September 1st if you want your brick included in the inaugural wave at the ribbon cutting.

Boy, there’s a lot going on … I almost forgot our 15th Anniversary.  In the fall of 1995, our neighborhood association was formed and since then it has grown into one of the most desirable places to live.  A place where you can raise your children and know that they will get a great education, have lifelong friends and have neighborhood activities on a monthly basis that brings us together.

If that isn’t enough, we have our annual membership drive starting right now.  There’s a form included for you to sign up or you can go to damonwoods.org to do everything on line all at once (picnic, brick and our annual membership).  All the forms can also be found on our web site, under “Forms.”

We are again accepting donations for some very worthy causes.  You can donate to our annual scholarship for a graduating senior, the Damon Woods home or a general donation for the neighborhood are all the ways you can help support the functions and good that we do.

See you at the picnic,
Jim Gehrke

P.S. We've asked some of our local officials to be at the ribbon cutting.  Should be exciting.
