Welcome to Lowell Damon Woods |
Lowell Damon Woods Neighborhood Association Inc. is a non-profit organization of volunteers from Lowell Damon Woods, a neighborhood of nearly 500 households in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Our neighborhood is located south and west of Wauwatosa's City Hall and Public Library. We named our neighborhood for Lowell Damon, a pioneer settler of Wauwatosa whose home at 2107 Wauwatosa Avenue is the oldest house in the city. Part of that house is a museum owned by the Milwaukee County Historical Society. Much of the land in our neighborhood belonged to the Damon family. Our web site contains information about the Association, the Lowell Damon Woods neighborhood, events and volunteer opportunities, an online version of our newsletter, and links to other community web sites. Our aim is to bring neighbors together and give the Lowell Damon Woods neighborhood a better sense of identity. |

August 2010 15th Anniversary, Annual Picnic and a Ribbon Cutting
Howdy Neighbors, There are big happenings coming in September. Our annual picnic, 15th Anniversary celebration and a special dedication/ribbon cutting will all take place on September 19 at the Lowell Damon House. Let’s take it from the beginning. There are some pretty cool things planned for our annual picnic. You’ll see an entry form in this newsletter with a schedule for the day’s events. The fun starts at 4pm and dinner begins around 4:30 depending how long I talk about state of the neighborhood past, present and future. At approximately 5:45 we will have a ribbon cutting to celebrate new life at the Damon House. The house was just painted by Erik Islo from Boy Scout Troop 21. Erik is going for his Eagle Scout badge and he coordinated the complete project. Thank you Erik, the old house needed a fresh look. New windows and repaired windows are scheduled to be done before our picnic so they will look pretty good going forward. |
